- Artist Mike C. Berry uses sweeping brush strokes to portray the energy of life around him through layers of color and striking compositions that often bend and twist the perspective. Mike works in pastels and oils using a technique he describes as "brushy realism", striving to capture the alluring effects of light and energy in each work, ranging from the glow of a downtown building at night to the brilliance of the sun on an old historic home. “I love the contrast of artificial light and natural darkness and how that sets the stage for some brilliant colors to appear. I’m drawn to those colorful shapes produced by light bouncing around the city and on the cars and the wet streets, which I believe amplifies the movement of life.” Mike earned an MFA degree from the Savannah College of Art & Design, and has continued to study with a number of great artists, most notably, Wolf Kahn, one of the most prolific colorists and modern landscape painters alive today.
